Breast Augmentation-Breast Enlargement

Breast augmentation is a procedure to enhance the size and shape of your breasts. Breast augmentation involves inserting an implant underneath the breasts to increase the woman’s bust.

The best candidates for breast augmentation are physically healthy women looking for improvement in the way they look and are realistic in their expectations.

The reasons for breast augmentation are varied:

  • Women that have always been small busted and would like to enhance their bust.
  • Restoration of the volume of the breast after significant weight loss or pregnancy.
  • To correct the asymmetry of uneven breast sizes.
  • Variations in the type of surgery you may undergo include :
  • The position of the implant:Under the breast gland (subglandular) or under the muscle (subpectoral).
  • The incision for placement of the implant: Inframammary (in the breast crease) or Periareolar (around part of the areolar).

Breast Reduction

Women with large pendulous breasts may suffer from a variety of symptoms caused by the excessive weight of their breasts. Symptoms may include neck or back pains, bra strap indentations on the shoulders, skin irritation or infections under the breasts (intertrigo).

The large size of the breasts may make a woman or teenager feel very self-conscious and restrict many physical or social activities.

Breast reduction is performed for the physical and psychological relief, usually when the breasts are fully developed (commonly by the age of 18).

The aim of the surgery is to reduce the breasts to a better shape and size while maintaining proportion with the rest of the body.

The scars of the breast reduction will depend on the technique of reduction performed by your surgeon.

Mastopexy-Breast Lift

Mastopexy is an operation that improves the shape and position of the breast on the chest wall.

With age, pregnancy, breast feeding, weight changes and the forces of gravity, the breasts loose their shape and firmness as the skin and ligaments of the breast have been stretched resulting in sagging or drooping of the breasts.

If your breasts are small or have lost significant volume after breast feeding or weight loss, mastopexy can be combined with insertion of breast implants to improve the shape, firmness and size of your breasts – a procedure known as augmentation mastopexy.

Gynaecomastia surgery-Male Breast Reduction

Gynaecomastia is the abnormal enlargement of the breast tissue in males, which may affect one or both breasts. It occurs in 40-60% of males at some stage of their life. The causes of gynaecomastia maybe secondary to certain drugs, medical problems or obesity but in the vast majority the cause is unknown. For men with this problem it is a source of embarrassment and surgery can help their appearance.

Surgery is directed at the specific problems affecting the patient. This may include a combination of: excision of any breast gland tissue; liposuction of excess fat; and excision of redundant skin.
