Brow Lift-Forehead Lift
With ageing and gravity the brow (forehead) area commonly descends, giving a drooping, tired appearance to the upper face, while muscle over activity in the central brow may cause a furrowed, angry appearance. The aim of the brow lift (forehead lift) is to rejuvenate the area by elevating the skin and muscles of the forehead, lifting the eyebrows to a more pleasing position and smoothing the forehead skin. This may be combined with removal of some of the muscles causing the furrowed central brow.
The procedure is performed as either an open procedure, through an incision hidden in the hairline, or as an endoscopic (keyhole) brow lift where several small incisions are placed in the hairline. Frequently Botox may be used in conjunction with a surgical technique to achieve the optimal result. Your surgeon will determine which approach is most appropriate to your needs.
Facelift
As we age, the tissues of the face lose their natural elasticity and youthful position. The combination of skin changes laxity of supporting ligaments and changes in the distribution of underlying soft tissues results in the appearance of facial ageing.
These effects are compounded by genetics, gravity, smoking, sun exposure and the stresses of daily life. A face lift cannot stop the natural ageing process but can rejuvenate the face by redistributing fat, tightening the underlying muscles and redraping skin, giving you a more refreshed look. A facelift can be performed alone or in combination with other procedures such as skin resurfacing, fat grating, brow (forehead) lift, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), or neck lift.
Nose-Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty (nose reshaping) is an operation to improve the shape and appearance of the nose. It may involve reduction or augmentation of the nose by altering the nasal bridge, refining the nasal tip, adjustments of underlying cartilage, the size and shape of the nostrils or the angle between the nose and upper lip. The aim of rhinoplasty is to produce a nose with a natural appearance and normal function, which is in balance with the rest of the face.
The ideal candidates for rhinoplasty are physically healthy people who are looking for specific points of improvement in their appearance and are realistic about their expectations.
Otoplasty-Ear Surgery
Otoplasty is a procedure to correct unusually prominent ears back to a more natural position. The prominence is usually due to several problems, the two most common being:
- An underdeveloped fold along the antihelix (the fold of the ear parallel to the free edge of the ear), which causes the upper portion of the ear to be more prominent and protruding.
- An enlarged concha (the deep bowl region of the ear).
The operation is normally done after the age of 4 years, when the ears are almost fully grown, and may be undertaken before school starts, to minimize the social impact of prominent ears.
Blepharoplasty-Eyelid Surgery
The aim of blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) is to refresh the appearance of the eyes by correcting drooping upper lids, or the “puffy bag” appearance of the lower lids. The same features that make you look and feel older and tired and may also be interfering with your vision.
In the upper eyelids excess skin and possibly a small amount of muscle or fat are removed. The lower lids are usually improved by redistributing the underlying fat and tightening the muscle with possible removal of a small amount of excess skin.
Neck Lift
Like the face, the skin and muscles of the neck are prone to the effects of ageing, gravity and genetics. This may result in drooping folds of redundant skin on the neck, loss of jawline definition, unsightly bands visible on the front of the neck or the loss of the natural angle between the face and neck.
Neck lifts are often performed in association with a facelift but can be done independently for both young and old people.
A neck lift usually involves several components targeted at the particular problems relevant to you. The procedure may involve removal or redraping of loose skin, tightening or adjustment of the underlying platysma muscle causing the tight bands and excision or liposuction of any excess underlying fat.
